Ferry Incident November 5

Post date: Nov 06, 2018 1:46:13 PM

You may be aware that at approximately 8:10 PM on November 5th, a single car rolled off the ferry after boarding from the island ramp.  Ferry crew, Raymond EMS, and the Cumberland County Sheriffs' Office responded to the scene. The single occupant was pulled from the water, transported off the island by Raymond EMS for medical evaluation and subsequently released.

Regular ferry service to the island ended this evening as scheduled.  The ferry will continue to operate for a short time as usual on the limited staff-only basis required for island shut down.  Measures to remove the submerged vehicle will be undertaken as soon as possible.

The Town will conduct a thorough review of this incident to help ensure the ongoing safety of ferry operations.
