Counselor in Training (CIT) Volunteer Program
The CIT program is for youth ages 13 and above. All CIT applicants should be interested in working with children and possess maturity, flexibility, a strong work ethic, and the ability to have fun. The goal of the program is to develop skills that CITs can use throughout life and to help support trained counselors and program directors to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching experience for the Frye Island Day Camp. The CIT program is a volunteer program; CITs are not paid, nor is a job at the completion of the program assured.
Responsibilities With Campers
The CITs will be subject to the same code of behavior and policies as regular program campers and staff and will participate in all aspects of day camp programming. CITs will:
● Make the camp a fun place to be, helping to implement games and activities.
● Assist in safety supervision and cleaning up activity areas
● Help provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere for campers
CIT's will always work with a trained camp counselor or program director. CITs will work to learn the basics of child development, programming, and supervision procedures and policies, etc. CIT's will participate in informal and formal activities with campers.
