Because of the likelihood of thunderstorms this evening, and after consultation with the pyrotechnics company, the fireworks display will be postponed to the rain date tomorrow, Sunday, July 2

Memorial Service - Reception moved up to 5:30 PM

A celebration of the life of Edmond "Ted" Charrette was scheduled for  Sunday, July 2nd at 3 PM at the Community Center.  Later that day, an informal reception will be held at Beach 5 at 6:30 PM.   The reception has now been moved to start at 5:30 PM due the fireworks.   Hot dogs, beans and soft drinks will be served.

Race Day Registration has now moved to start at 5:30-7:00 PM

Packet pickup and late registration will take place at Beach 5 on Sunday night July 2 from 6:30-8:00 PM.  5:30-7:00 PM.

Golf Cart Parade 10am-12pm (Line up 9:30am)

It’s time to start planning for the 4th of July golf cart parade.  The theme this year is Support Your Favorite Team! Bring things to decorate your cart for the July 1st parade and honor your team. 

Frye Island Fire Department - Annual Hot dot launch

Come one, come all, to the Frye Island community hot dog lunch, July 1st at noon at the Fire Barn! 

Long Beach Marina Boat Removal Saturday July 1st Sunday July 2nd.

Per order of the State Fire Marshall, slips 67-131 and 84-130 must be vacated by 5pm on Saturday July 1stSunday July 2nd  for the annual Fire Works Display.  Any watercraft not moved will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Fireworks at Dusk:

The Fireworks display is scheduled for Saturday, July 1st  Sunday July, 2nd at dusk.  Rain date is Sunday, July 2nd.   Please check the website www.fryeisland.com for notification of a change in schedule.  We are reaching out to Islanders to make a contribution to help offset the cost.  Thanks to those that have already contributed.

Monday July 3rd - 9AM

 Annual Fourth of July Road Race

The Frye Island Road Race is a family oriented event for residents and friends of the Island.  This year's race will be held on Monday July 3 with the 1 mile beginning at 9:00 AM. The 5 mile race will commence approximately 9:30AM.  The marathon will start at 6:30AM Sharp.  If you are coming from the mainland to run the Marathon please be at the Frye Island Ferry landing ready to go at 6:00AM.  A pontoon boat will bring you to the island and we will arrange to get you to the start. (Total trip will be about 15 minutes). This year the price of the race will be $10 per person and will include a professional race timer. We have also partnered with Local Races.com to do our registrations. There is a small service charge added to each order, so please try and register everyone together to minimize your charges. The shirts are in and they look great!!  This year’s shirt is a custom design by Cece Charrette in honor of her father and race founder, Ted Charrette. The cost of the shirts will be $15 again this year.  All are welcome to attend the Memorial Service for our race founder Ted Charrette on Sunday July 2 at 3 PM at the Community Center.  Packet pickup and late registration will take place at Beach 5 on Sunday night July 2 from 6:30-8:00 PM. The packet pickup will be in conjunction with the informal reception for Ted Charrette which will include a Hot Dog, Beans and Soda dinner. Please try and attend both the packet pickup and the Memorial Service in honor Ted’s service to the Island and our race.  We will have trophies for all 1st thru 3rd finishers of each race and ice cream coupons for all participants 12 and under courtesy of the Frye Island Store and Cafe.  There will be race day registration at the Community Center from 8-9 AM the day of the race. Shirts will also be available for purchase at the race. Please try to pre-register if possible.  I hope to see you on race day!!

 

Frye Island Road Race Volunteers Needed

The Frye Island Road Race is recruiting volunteers for race day activities. We are looking for 6 people to work with our race timer. This will involve a commitment from 8AM to 11:30 AM on Monday July 3rd. We are also looking for volunteers for other race day tasks such as set up, clean up and registration. These opportunities usually are about 1.5 hours and the times vary depending on your task. Please contact me if you are interested @ Andrew.DiSalvocpa@gmail.com. There will be a volunteer meeting on Saturday, July 1 at 9AM at the Community Center for all interested volunteers. The meeting will last 30 minutes or less.
